PDP's legal notice

Updated:  08/04/08

The small size of the group and the knowledge of the course leader meant that all my questions were answered and I returned to work with more confidence than I had before

Terry McCarthy –
Head of Casework Parole Board for England and Wales

Extremely informative

James Newman
Senior Compliance Adviser, Transport for London

I found the 1st FOI Conference to be extremely useful because even though Merseyside police have worked hard to ready themselves for the Freedom of Information Act, it was useful and instructive to benchmark with delegates from other disciplines to determine whether we had positioned ourselves appropriately.  I found the workshop session a revelation because it allowed me to see how other people, particularly from the legal world, view this legislation

Paul Burrell, Information Manager, Merseyside Police

Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act 2000, which came into force in England, Wales and Northern Ireland on 1st January 2005, represents the most significant single change, for many decades, in the way the country is governed.

Public authorities ( Central Government Departments, Quangos, Local Authorities, NHS Bodies, Police Authorities, Fire Services and others ) are now open to public scrutiny as never before.  Subject to a number of exemptions, public authorities must now provide a plethora of information to anyone that requests it.

At PDP, we provide a number of key services for all those involved with implementing the Freedom of Information Act:

An excellent Conference with very knowledgeable speakers. The Freedom of Information Act continues to present public authorities with issues that have not been clearly defined by case law.  I see the Annual Freedom of Information Conference as the best forum for obtaining up to date information about how the Act is being interpreted throughout the United Kingdom
Hugh Boyle, Secretary, Parole Board for Scotland
