PDP's legal notice

Updated:  10/05/08

I thought the FOI workshop was very good. The tutor's explanation of the FOI Act was reinforced by the practical activities in the afternoon and successfully pulled together the technical aspects and practical implications.  It was also useful to hear other people's first hand experiences of the FOI Act and the small group size helped to facilitate informal discussion. I felt the FOI Workshop was very worthwhile

I found the 1st annual FOI event extremely useful and would agree that it was a 'must attend'.  There was a wide arena of speakers and delegates from various sectors and this gave me an insight of how FOI affects not just local authorities, but sectors like the police, the cabinet.  I am using the materials provided as a reference guide in preparing a brief on FOI for our Department

The small size of the group and the knowledge of the course leader meant that all my questions were answered and I returned to work with more confidence than I had before
Terry McCarthy –
Head of Casework Parole Board for England and Wales

   - Photo from the 1st Annual Freedom of Information Conference and Workshop Series, held in London February 2005 -

This unique 2-day Conference gives delegates up-to-the minute advice and practical guidance in handling key FOI compliance issues.

The Conference is accredited by the Law Society with 12 CPD Points.

An excellent Conference with very knowledgeable speakers. The Freedom of Information Act continues to present public authorities with issues that have not been clearly defined by case law.  I see the Annual Freedom of Information Conference as the best forum for obtaining up to date information about how the Act is being interpreted throughout the United Kingdom
Hugh Boyle, Secretary, Parole Board for Scotland
