CCTV in the Workplace
with Peter Carey.  Courses in London and Manchester

The use of CCTV cameras in the workplace is regulated by data protection law.  Organisations that install and use CCTV cameras must comply with the rules which govern the positioning of the cameras, the types of images that can be processed, the length of time that the images can be kept and the rights of individuals to see a copy of the tape on which they appear.

This invaluable and practical training session, led by internationally-acclaimed data protection expert and trainer Peter Carey, examines everything organisations need to know about the lawful use of CCTV systems.

The tutor had fantastic delivery – clarity, simplicity, patience
and authority. Cannot ask for more!

Jigna Patel, British Safety Council, Business Improvement Manager

This session will provide a thorough grounding in the fundamental requirements for using CCTV cameras, including:

  • How does the law apply to CCTV?
  • Conducting impact assessments for the use of CCTV camera systems
  • The necessary content of signage that must accompany CCTV camera usage
  • Where cameras may be cited and what types of images may, and may not, be processed
  • For how long can images be kept?
  • When images can lawfully be made available to third parties, such as law enforcement bodies
  • Handling requests from individuals to see a copy of CCTV images
  • Covert surveillance
  • The role of the Information Commissioner regarding CCTV compliance and what an organisation should do if it is investigated by the Commissioner
  • The legal requirements for outsourcing CCTV camera installation, maintenance and day-to-day image processing
