Data Protection in Employment

This one-day interactive session uses case studies based on real scenarios to give delegates a practical understanding of the data protection compliance issues involved in employing and managing staff. It includes:

Practical advice on obtaining, using and managing staff information

Record retention, references and the rights of ex-members of staff

Data protection and recruitment – application forms, criminal records and medical checks

Dealing with staff information requests – what to disclose & what to withhold

Disclosing staff information to outside third parties

Risk management in monitoring staff activities and communications - using line managers, private detectives or CCTV

Handling sensitive information such as health and medical data - employer’s obligations and rights

How to comply with the Employment Code

Gabriella is an experienced speaker and trainer and has delivered numerous training workshops for lawyers, management personnel and HR professionals.

She is the author of a number of articles on data protection law, and a contributor to Privacy & Data Protection journal.

Gabriella spent 7 years with the leading Employment & Pensions team at law firm, Charles Russell LLP, the last two years as a partner. Gabriella left Charles Russell in June 2005 to focus on legal training and writing.
